Hi everyone,
So Chris has started the medication that gives him a 25% chance at fighting this evil cancer, but the insurance company is fighting the family to try to deny coverage of his treatment and of getting the bone marrow tests of his family that he will need in order to find a donor. This just infuriates me. I've been through this with my own family and you have to fight hard and strong for your rights when you have the least emotional and physical resources to do so.
Please send even more prayers or healing thoughts for the strength of Chris and his wife Margaret to get through this latest totally avoidable crisis of having to fight the insurance company for his life. I'll keep you posted as I learn more. As of this evening they had found a great attorney who is willing to do battle for them, so hopefully the insurance company will give in and they can just focus on Chris healing.
The blog got 139 hits today sending warm wishes and prayers towards the Bernal family. Let's see how high we can get that number tomorrow so I can tell them how many people are in their corner sending them strength. I truly believe that every single moment that we spend trying to help another, is a moment that makes the whole world a more sacred place. Let's do it together.
Thank you again to the people who visited and left comments today. Your wishes and prayers are so appreciated.
My light salutes you,
Jan

My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Cancer is a b*tch and needs to disappear off the face of the earth. There are too many good ppl being stricken w/this horrible disease. I hope you guys can fight the lame insurance company and get the treatment you deserve. Try reaching out to your local chapter of the ACS or the ACLU. Perhaps they can help too!
Hugs and best wishes from your twitter friend!

(Anytime you need some publicity to this blog just let me know)
My prayers continue.
It is very upsetting that the insurance company is fighting this. I remember when I was fighting cancer, the treatment was sure to bring my blood cell count so low that I would be very sick and sure enough I was... I truly thought I was going to die. Only after that would the insurance company pay for a shot that counteracts the effects of the chemo - they wanted to make certain I would need that expensive shot, even though almost everyone undergoing this particular chemo did. I still get upset when I think about it.
Peace and prayers.
Thank you for updating us all. Insurance companies can be rather nasty and money-hungry bastards some times. I hope the attorney is able to navigate your family through this. My prayers are with Chris and his family.
i am feeling very trivial right now. i blog about such nonsense and there are real issues in the world....
i am very sorry to hear about your friend. especially to hear that the insurance, already so much to think about and the last thing to be worried about is if the insurance will pay.....
thoughts and prayers with them
So many obstacles to getting what is simply a basic response...these companies are the evil ones, not necessarily the disease....
Geez, don't even get me started on health insurance issues and the obvious difficulties so many people have in this country trying to get their health care needs met. However, now is not the time for me to rant.
Sending all best thoughts and love to Chris and his family!

Hi,
I came here via bodaat blog.
First of all, I will close my eyes and send some positive energy your way and pray for Chris.
Try contacting Leukemia and Lymphoma Society - they can probably help you somehow. I have been involved with Team In Training for the past 3-4 years and have done a couple of half marathons to raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma. I know that some of the money raised goes to research and some goes to help existing patients. I hope your friend can find some help through them.
Best wishes.
I'm sending love and understanding to Chris and his family, that he see himself well now.
Let the insurance company be who they are but don't lose sight of health, peace, and appreciation for all the love that is being given to him.
Thanks everybody. Chris and his family are so appreciative of all the love and support. I think the insurance thing is being sorted out but I will post more when I learn more. Thanks for all the tips too.
Love,
Jan
